Atitude Digital Media Uses Mediasite for Pandemic Planning, Takes Large
Conferences Virtual
Atitude unites nationwide and global audiences, preventing the spread of H1N1
MADISON, Wis., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- As more companies and
organizations take measures to protect their employees from the H1N1 virus,
more conferences and meetings are going virtual with Mediasite by Sonic
Foundry, Inc. (Nasdaq: SOFO), the recognized market leader for rich media
webcasting and knowledge management. Atitude Digital Media, a leading webcast
services provider in Brazil, uses Mediasite to create online events, uniting
individuals around the world from their desktops, saving time and money, and
preventing the spread of the H1N1 virus.
The firm will discuss how it created these virtual conferences during a
complimentary live webinar today at 1:00 central. Registration is free at
www.sonicfoundry.com/register/brazil/?sm=6.
Atitude recently worked with the training department at Sanofi-Aventis to turn
their quarterly training meeting into an all-virtual event. Directors, product
managers and trainers presented via live webcasts from three studios
concurrently. The virtual audience, made up of 1,000 employees from all over
Brazil, was able to connect with the presenters using Mediasite's polling and
question and answer features.
"Brazil is a huge country. The swine flu outbreak got more people in the
southern region, and very few from the northern region. Our client wanted to
avoid putting those people together in the same room. They didn't want to ask
anyone to take a risk that was absolutely unnecessary," said Helder Conde,
Atitude technical director. "Despite the fact that the company decided they
were not going to meet in-person, by using Mediasite they were still able to
get the message across and be seen and heard without compromising the quality
of the method of delivery."
Conde said there were several other advantages to the virtual meeting,
including "Delivering all the same information in a shorter time period.
Instead of spending a week on this they did it for two days. On the third day
they were back in the field selling."
A few weeks later Atitude successfully webcasted the first Online Congress of
Otorhinolaryngology. Professors from Brazil and Portugal gave online
presentations via Mediasite, while a global audience of medical doctors
interacted with them in real time.
"It is a project we're really proud of, and it was completely based on
Mediasite," said Conde. "The thing that makes Mediasite the right platform for
this project was that these presenters were making changes up to the very last
minute. We don't have time to pre-upload anything. We need the technology that
will let you do things on the fly and that's something that only Mediasite
allows. That's major. It may sound like a minor detail to some people, but it
makes all the difference in the world to us."
