CapMed and StayWell Health Management Collaborate by Bundling Population Health Management Programs and Services with Personal Health Records
New solution reflects Americans' growing reliance on Internet
resources
NEWTOWN, Pa.--(Business Wire)--
CapMed (http://www.capmed.com), a division of Bio-Imaging
Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: BITI), and provider of interactive
personal health management solutions, today announced that CapMed and
StayWell Health Management have begun offering their customers a
unique bundled product that incorporates CapMed's award-winning
Personal Health Record (PHR) and StayWell Health Management's
industry-leading population health management solutions. The robust
consumer-tailored product offering includes health assessment tools,
wellness coaching, health behavior change programs, and reliable,
high-quality health information.
While many PHRs offer health risk assessment tools, StayWell's
capabilities are far more comprehensive and provide consumers a higher
level of actionable health and wellness options. Research consistently
shows that StayWell's health assessments and disease management
programs improve employee health, reduce health care costs, and
produce a superior return-on-investment. At one StayWell customer
site, program participation was associated with a $200 annual
reduction (equal to more than $350 in today's dollars) in health care
costs per person.
Wellness programs are becoming more and more popular throughout
the country. According to the Society for Human Resource Management,
86 percent of U.S. employers surveyed offer wellness programs,
according to Working Well: A Global Survey of Health Promotion and
Workplace Wellness Strategies, released in October 2007, and the top
strategic objective for offering wellness programs is to drive down
their health care costs.
Combining wellness programs with CapMed's comprehensive and
interoperable PHR is a natural partnership that brings great value to
the consumer. Through CapMed's PHR, users can track and manage all
facets of personal health and wellness information from home, work or
while traveling, at any time of the day or night. Consumers will also
be able to link to individually-relevant patient education and receive
important personal alerts and reminders, supporting CapMed's goal of
making health information personal and actionable. Additionally,
consumers can take advantage of multiple tools and features to manage
their family's information such as drug interaction checking,
importing data from remote healthcare monitoring devices, and
authorizing providers, family members, and caregivers to view all or
part of the data within the PHR.
Through this collaboration, CapMed and StayWell will offer new and
existing partners interactive personal health management solutions
that include the CapMed PHR, StayWell's health risk assessments
(HRAs), health coaching, publications, educational materials and
training programs. Employer, physician, health plan provider and
pharmaceutical company partners can personalize the offering for their
own PHR end users.
"StayWell's health management programs bring a whole new dimension
of value to CapMed's PHR," said Wendy Angst, General Manager of
CapMed. "In addition to being able to manage and store their own and
their family's health information, CapMed PHR users will be able to
access and manage a tailored health and wellness program though
StayWell's HRAs and health coaching capabilities."
CapMed will showcase the integrated CapMed/StayWell offering
during the HIMSS 08 launch of CapMed's new consumer product onlinePHR,
booth #3579.
"Our business at StayWell is about helping real people make
positive and lasting changes in their health and their lives," said
Paul Terry, Ph.D., president and chief operating officer, StayWell
Health Management. "Giving people the information, the tools, and the
power to make decisions about their health goes hand-in-hand with our
approach to behavior change. That's what makes the collaboration
between StayWell and CapMed PHR so promising. Together, we can provide
great value to the industry and to individual health care consumers."
