Porter Airlines implements revised Newark flights with FAA approval

Tue Jul 8, 2008 8:44pm EDT
TORONTO, July 8 /PRNewswire/ - Porter Airlines is introducing
improved flight times today between Toronto City Centre Airport (TCCA) and
Newark Liberty International Airport after discussions with the FAA. The key
benefits of these changes are reducing time intervals between some later-day
flights and providing an earlier arrival for the final evening flight at TCCA.
A 6:30 p.m. TCCA departure will be added to the schedule along with a 9
p.m.Newark departure. Porter currently operates six return flights every
weekday on the TCCA-Newark route, plus weekend service.
"These new times match closely with our original schedule and will be
familiar to Porter travellers," said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of
Porter Airlines. "We're regularly discussing options for adding and revising
flight times with the FAA and other airlines."
Porter recently reduced its weekday service to six from seven daily
flights while adding weekend capacity as part of the FAA's efforts to minimize
congestion at New York-area airports.
"By the fall, we expect to have our seventh daily Newark flight back in
the schedule and based on overwhelming passenger response to date, expand
frequencies to as many as 13 daily flights within the next year. It's a
step-by-step process that we'll continue to work at with the goal of providing
the best possible schedule for passengers.
"Newark bookings have been consistently strong and this momentum is
continuing despite broad cutbacks at other airlines. We know there is demand
for more Porter service here."
Special summer promotional fares between TCCA and Newark are currently
available for $59 one-way. Applicable taxes and surcharges are additional.
Other terms and conditions apply.
Porter flies from its own dedicated terminal at Toronto City Centre
Airport (TCCA), one of the most convenient urban airports in the world,
situated just minutes from downtown. All Porter passengers enjoy a premium
level of service that includes access to a modern, comfortable and stylish
lounge at TCCA, complimentary onboard wine and beer, and a spacious cabin
environment with leather seats and extra legroom.
