Wed May 21, 2008 12:04pm EDT
FORT WORTH, TX, May 21 (MARKET WIRE) --
The Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA)
announces that on Thursday, May 22 from 11:30AM to 1:15PM, it will host a
luncheon program featuring Christine McGee, Vice President, Marketing, for
Weatherford International at the Fort Worth Club, 306 W. 7th St., Fort Worth,
TX.

Managing the Politics of Branding: 5 Key Points

In this era of mergers and acquisitions, branding often becomes an
unnecessary battleground between egos and identities. Too often, branding is
considered a distraction in the early days of a deal rather than a key
strategic advantage. Weatherford International Ltd., the world's fourth-largest
oilfield service company, with sales of nearly $8 billion and over 38,000
employees, has completed more than 200 acquisitions over the past decade.
Christine McGee, Vice President of Marketing for Weatherford, will present an
up-close look -- using a case history approach -- at how Weatherford has
approached branding decisions in a way that makes sense for the business, not
people's personal agendas.

Weatherford International Ltd. was recognized as the AMA Houston's
Marketer of the Year. In 2007, they also received recognition for their
work through the Society of Technical Communicators' (STC) Awards -- both
through
theHouston chapter and at the national level, PRSA Houston's Excalibur
Awards,BMA Houston's Lantern Awards and the AMA Houston, winning five coveted
Crystal
Awards.

    Speaker Profile:

Christine has a 15-year track record of helping organizations shape and
manage their stakeholders' perceptions through the targeted development
anddeployment of a wide range of marketing and public relations
campaigns. She has worked at Weatherford since 1998, with responsibilities
ranging from
publications management and media relations to her current position of
overseeing marketing communication strategy and implementing a variety of
marketing programs.

Prior to Weatherford, Ms. McGee worked at Lyondell Chemical Company as a
spokeswoman and community liaison for Lyondell facilities in the Gulf of
Mexico region. She also spent four years in account service with Churchill Group
Inc., a local public relations firm. An accredited public relations
professional,
