and Former Employees of Merck & Co., Inc. Who Invested in the Merck & Co.,
Inc. Employee Savings and Security Plan

announces that it is investigating claims against Merck & Co., Inc. ("Merck"
or the "Company")(NYSE: MRK) concerning whether the Company's Employee Savings
and Security Plan (the "Plan") imprudently invested in Merck stock and whether
the Plan's administrators breached their fiduciary duties to the Plan's
participants in violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of
1974.
    The investigation concerns whether Merck and other administrators of the
Plan failed to prudently and loyally manage the Plan's investments in Merck
stock by continuing to offer Company stock when the stock was no longer a
prudent investment for participants' retirement savings.
