ATLANTA, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday, October 24 Hooters Manager, Jeff
Spraker, will head up the 4th annual bicycle ride to raise money for breast
cancer research in the name of former Hooters Calendar Girl, Kelly Jo Dowd and
the V Foundation for Cancer Research. Spraker along with 12 other riders will
kick off the 85 mile journey from the Hooters of Kirkman, located at 5300
Kirkman Road, Saturday morning at 7:00 AM and is scheduled to arrive at
Hooters of Daytona, located at 2100 International Speedway Drive, by 3:00 PM.

"I have an amazing group of people who surround me and it is an honor to
receive the amount of support we get for all our charitable efforts,"
explained Jeff Spraker. "Our goal is to raise at least $2,000 toward breast
cancer research in Kelly Jo Dowd's name."

Last month Spraker raised over $1,700 for the MDA from a "tread mill
challenge" where he set up a tread mill outside of an Orlando Airport Hooters
and ran for 46 miles and 13 hours.

The money raised from the ride will help fund the Kelly Jo Dowd Breast Cancer
Research Grant, a larger initiative Hooters Restaurants nationwide have
committed to. Hooters donated over $1 Million to the cause in just over 4
years time.

Kelly Jo Dowd was one of the original Hooters Girls, graced the cover of the
1995 Hooters Calendar and worked her way up the Hooters ranks to manager of
the location in Palm Harbor, Florida. In 2002, she was diagnosed with breast
cancer and despite radical and aggressive treatment, the cancer spread and
Kelly Jo lost the battle in 2007. She spent the last 5 years of her life
educating the Hooters family on the importance of early detection and breast
cancer awareness.

Hooters of America, Inc. is the franchisor and operator of over 450 Hooters
restaurants in 46 states and 27 foreign countries. Hooters is very involved
with charities and organizations nationwide through HOO.C.E.F., the Hooters
Community Endowment Fund. The fund was started in 1992 and has raised and
contributed over 8 million dollars to major non-profit organizations like
Make-A-Wish Foundation, Operation Homefront, the V Foundation for Cancer
Research, American Diabetes Association, Special Olympics, Muscular Dystrophy
Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
