The Chelsea in Atlantic City Has 'Starr' Power

Wed May 28, 2008 12:00pm EDT
Cape Advisors' New Boutique Hotel to Offer Two Restaurants by Acclaimed
Restaurateur Stephen Starr

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Cape Advisors, developers of
the Chelsea, Atlantic City's first non-gaming boutique hotel to open on the
Boardwalk since the early 1960s, in partnership with renowned restaurateur,
Stephen Starr and the Starr Restaurants, today announced the development of
two restaurants for the hotel, Teplitzky's and Chelsea Prime, slated to open
in summer 2008. Starr has recruited Executive Chef Thomas Von Muenster to
oversee both restaurants as well as in-room dining, catering and both poolside
and beach service.
Prior to joining Stephen Starr's team for the Chelsea, Chef Thomas Von
Muenster refined his culinary skills in the kitchens at the tony Ritz-Carlton
Philadelphia and the Lafayette Swissotel before launching his acclaimed
private catering company, Thomas' Kitchen. His early career includes over
five years at the Philadelphia and Boston Ritz-Carlton hotels and he was part
of the opening team for the renowned Ritz-Carlton Tyson's Corner. His
experience will infuse the Chelsea's culinary program with an impeccable level
of service and sophistication on par with the new level of dining and
celebrity chef-driven restaurants now found in Atlantic City.
"Stephen Starr's restaurants are known for their exceptional service, high
quality cuisine and an electric ambiance, which meld seamlessly with the
experience at the Chelsea," says Curtis Bashaw, Cape Advisors' principal.
"Cape Advisors and the Chelsea are thrilled to partner with someone that
shares our vision to bring discerning consumers to Atlantic City and to have
someone as accomplished as Chef Thomas Von Muenster leading the kitchen."
"It's always been our mission to bring dynamic and upscale dining to our
clientele," says Stephen Starr, founder and owner of Starr Restaurants. "The
Chelsea provides an ideal environment for our concepts. I look forward to
continuing to bring luxury to Atlantic City."
Located on the Chelsea's first floor, Teplitzky's will feature an eclectic
menu of comfort food favorites including club sandwiches and matzo ball soup
available to guests in the relaxed coffee shop restaurant, in-room, poolside
or on the beach. The restaurant will also house a hideaway cocktail lounge.
Chelsea Prime will feature upscale dining from the Chelsea's 5th Floor
with sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean. This signature restaurant offers a
fresh take on the classic American steakhouse in a setting evocative of a
1940s supper club. The menu will include dry-aged steaks and inventive sides,
as well as a raw bar and seafood sourced from local fishermen. Decorated with
classic black and white photographs of historic Atlantic City, Chelsea Prime
also features elevated Hollywood-style booths, adding a touch of grandeur to
every meal.
    About the Chelsea
The Chelsea is Atlantic City's first non-gaming boutique hotel to open on
the Boardwalk since the early 1960s. Featuring 331 guest rooms and suites, a
roof-top swimming pool area with private cabanas, Sea Spa -- a 10,000-square-
foot spa complex, two signature Stephen Starr restaurants and the 5th Floor --
a social destination housing the hotel's prime hotspots overseen by Matt
Abramcyzk and Paul Sevigny of New York City's Beatrice Inn -- the Chelsea will
infuse "America's Playground" with a sexy refinement and timeless Hollywood
glamour not seen since the Rat Pack put the seaside resort town on the map.
Located on Atlantic City's best beach and neighboring The Tropicana Casino
& Resort, the Chelsea, currently under construction, combines two existing
hotel properties (previously the Holiday Inn Atlantic City-Boardwalk and the
adjacent Howard Johnson Hotel Atlantic City), into a luxury destination
catering to those who value relaxed elegance, service on an intimate scale and
a fresh vibe. The Chelsea expands upon the ongoing revitalization of Atlantic
City and will provide much needed upscale guest rooms, greatly enhancing the
resort town's tourism offerings. The project is sponsored by a partnership
formed with investor group, Normandy Real Estate Partners, and led by Cape
Advisors, Inc., the visionary developers who transformed the hotel landscape
in Cape May, NJ with award-winning renovations of the town's landmark hotels,
The Virginia Hotel and Congress Hall.
