America (PRSA) Professional Practices Conference



MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Minnesota PRSA 2009 Professional
Practices Conference, "Take Your Game to a Whole New Ballpark," takes place on
Thursday, Oct. 29, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Metropolitan Ballroom and
Clubhouse at 5418 Wayzata Blvd. in Golden Valley, Minn. To register, please

"This year's conference is an event that you should not miss," Jan Hennings,
APR, Minnesota PRSA president, said. "In this current marketplace and economy,
it is crucial for all of us to keep on top of our game. The sessions and
speakers will give participants the swing power to make a grand slam in their
careers and personal life." 

The 2009 conference focuses on increasing your career's ROI and features two
keynote speakers: Mary T. Henige, APR, director of social media, broadcast,
diversity and consumer communications for General Motors Corporation, and
Kevin Smith, executive director of public affairs for the Minnesota Twins.
Henige will discuss General Motors' historic Chapter 11 filing on June 1 and
its successful emergence as a new company on July 10. Kevin Smith will discuss
the communications efforts behind Target Field and the plans for the future. 

"PRSA membership has continually helped me to grow throughout my career - as a
student, new professional and even 25 years later," said Henige, APR. "I'm
eager to meet my Minneapolis colleagues and to learn from and share with all
of you." 

Additionally, attendees can select from eight different breakout sessions.
Topics include everything from getting your creative juices flowing and
fine-tuning your pitch to understanding search engine optimization (SEO) and
making the most out of your budget. 

The fee for attending the conference is $80 for PRSA members, $100 for
non-PRSA members and $40 for students. Once online registration closes at
midnight on Oct. 27, tickets can be purchased at the event, but prices will
increase to $120 for PRSA Members, $140 for non-PRSA Members and $60 for
students. The conference schedule is as follows:

        8-8:45 a.m. - Breakfast and networking
        8:45-9:35 a.m. - Morning keynote: Mary Henige, General Motors
        9:40-11:55 a.m. - Four 30-minute breakout sessions
        12:05-12:30 p.m. - Lunch
        12:35-1:30 p.m. - Lunch keynote: Kevin Smith, Minnesota Twins


The Professional Practices Conference is open to PRSA members, nonmembers and
students. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with other
