Smart PlayMix by MP3tunes Creates Custom Playlists Using AMG's Technologies
SAN DIEGO, Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- MP3tunes -- http://www.mp3tunes.com
-- has announced Smart PlayMix(TM), the latest product engineered and designed
to give music lovers uniquely new ways to rediscover their own music
libraries. Smart PlayMix takes an intelligent look at a person's music
collection, which has been safely stored in their MP3tunes Locker, and creates
customized playlists using the LASSO and Tapestry technology solutions from
Macrovision(R) All Media Guide. Consumers can choose to instantly generate a
PlayMix playlist based on style of music, situation, event, environment, or
even their current mood. Visit http://www.mp3tunes.com/smartplaymix to learn
more.
After creating a MP3tunes Locker, the consumer simply chooses a category
and Smart PlayMix scans the user's library and instantly delivers a PlayMix,
using LASSO Fingerprint Recognition to identify and tag the tracks, and
Tapestry to categorize the music by style, theme, artist or mood. For example,
choosing a song by Bruce Springsteen would return a dynamic playlist of other
songs with a similar sound, including Springsteen, with songs spanning a
variety of albums and tracks in the Locker. Another option is to create a
PlayMix by event, anything from a party to a road trip, from workout tunes to
dinner for two. Simply a mood, whether romantic, blue, or energetic, can also
be used by Smart PlayMix to create a specialized list of tracks.
"Most people have lots of music in their collections that they simply
never listen to, whether out of habit or because it is too laborious to
experiment," commented Michael Robertson, CEO of MP3tunes. "Smart PlayMix
gives folks their music back to them in a refreshing new context, allowing
playlists that more deeply explore an artist, songs to fit a party theme or
just fit with a person's mood."
Smart PlayMix is the latest product from MP3tunes that makes it simple for
users to enjoy their digital music from a secure, online Locker. LockerSync
3.0 delivers increased speed and simple syncing of a digital music collection
to an online Music Locker for safe and secure storage. TuneWatch, a component
of LockerSync 3.0, detects when new music is added to a computer and
automatically syncs it to the Locker. Consumers can then instantly access and
listen to their music collections through any web browser, as well as numerous
devices, including the Nintendo Wii, SonyPlaystation 3, Logitech's Squeezebox
and, in Europe, the complete line of NOXON iRadio devices.
"Smart PlayMix is a terrific application of our LASSO and Tapestry
technologies, which were designed to help music fans manage, enjoy and even
re-discover their digital collections," commented Michael Buchheim, EVP and
general manager of Macrovision's Distribution and Commerce Business Unit. "We
are excited to be guiding consumers in experiencing their music in a dynamic
and fun new way."
The MP3tunes Music Locker offers free storage and unlimited bandwidth for
consumers to store and access their music collections online. A Premium Music
Locker, for $40 per year, enables access beyond the user's computer,
delivering streaming music to net-connected devices, including Internet
tablets, mobile phones, home stereo appliances and more. The Music Locker
supports most music formats, including MP3, WMA, M4A, and OGG. For more
