Powerwave Awarded 4G Wireless Evolution`s 2009 Wireless LTE Visionary Award

Tue Oct 27, 2009 12:30pm EDT
Family of 700 MHz Single and Dual Band Antennas for 4G Networks Recognized as
Innovative Components for Next-Generation Mobile Broadband Wireless
SANTA ANA, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
Powerwave Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:PWAV), a global leader in end-to-end
wireless coverage and capacity solutions, today announced that Technology
Marketing Corporation (TMC) has awarded Powerwave with a 2009 4GWE LTE Visionary
Award for its family of 4G antennas  key components in powering next-generation
wireless networks.

The awards recognize innovative companies for their vision in advancing the
future of mobile broadband through the development of innovative long term
evolution (LTE) solutions.

"We`re proud to be part of the inaugural class of 4GWE Visionary Award winners,
and pleased TMC is acknowledging LTE achievements across the industry," said
Ronald J. Buschur, president and CEO, Powerwave Technologies. "Powerwave
supports all wireless network protocols and frequencies, including WiMAX and
LTE, with the goal of developing innovative infrastructure solutions that offer
high reliability, high performance, and enable streamlined deployment of
next-generation wireless deployments."

Designed to assist operators to quickly and efficiently roll out 3GPP LTE
services, Powerwave`s recently introduced 700 MHz antenna line for 4G networks
consists of a single-band antenna covering 698-896 MHz bands and a dual-band
offering covering both the 698-896 MHz and 1710-2170 MHz bands.Offering high
efficiency, low interference and industry-leading gain per length, the wideband
antennas enable Auction 73 winners the flexibility of a graduated and
cost-effective approach to 4G deployment with the added benefit of Powerwave`s
renowned reliability - enabling streamlined installation of new services
leveraging 700 MHz spectrum at existing 800 MHz cell sites without increasing
the number of visible antennas.

Powerwave`s 700 MHz antenna family offers as much as one decibel in gain above
competing offerings, and boasts superior upper side lobe suppression for reduced
site-to-site interference - a critical requirement for 4G networks. Further
differentiating Powerwave`s product line is the ability to provide consistent
performance across frequency bands and down tilts via Powerwave`s patented
Aperture Coupled Patch technology, ensuring steady performance over the entire
band and the elimination of dead zones.

Additional options include fixed electrical tilt support, as well as integrated
remote electrical tilt (iRET) functionality under one antenna radome.
Powerwave`s iRET capabilities deliver maximum performance, improved aesthetics,
and eliminate installation and reliability issues that can occur with typical
exterior remote electrical tilt modules.

Winners of the 2009 4GWE LTE Visionary Award will be highlighted at
