Tue Apr 22, 2008 11:59am EDT
MENLO PARK, Calif., April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The Asia America
MultiTechnology Association (AAMA), Silicon Valley's leading business network,
today announced the appointment of Michael Zhao as its new president. Michael
will be responsible for guiding the organization's outreach and programs for
high-tech business leaders and entrepreneurs who focus on creating new
opportunities in the United States and Asia.
Mr. Zhao will replace current president, Kyung Yoon, vice chairman of
Heidrick and Struggles. Under Kyung's leadership, AAMA established a new
chapter in Shanghai, started new charter member and executive leadership
coaching programs, raised a record number of sponsorships, and grew the AAMA
network to over 10,000 members.
"I am confident that Michael will continue to build upon AAMA's success
and serve as a key agent for deepening our relationships throughout Asia, as
he brings a wealth of business experience and contacts in Asia to the AAMA
organization," said Ms. Yoon. "Michael's leadership and experience provide the
energy and commitment needed to make this another banner year for our
organization."
Mr. Zhao has more than 20 years of experience in executive roles at
Internet infrastructure and systems integration companies. He is currently the
president and CEO of Array Networks, the pioneer in integrated web traffic
management and SSL VPN solutions for global enterprises. Considered one of the
hottest pre-IPO companies in Silicon Valley, Array Networks was recently
ranked No. 4 by Deloitte & Touche on its Silicon Valley Fast 50 list. Array
was also selected by Red Herring magazine as one of the top 100 private
companies in North America, and it was recognized by Frost and Sullivan as the
best-positioned company in the rapidly emerging resource gateway category
(formerly known as SSL-VPN).
Previously, Mr. Zhao was co-founder and COO of AsiaInfo Holdings, Inc., a
leading provider of network infrastructure, operational support system and
application services solutions to China's largest telecommunications
companies. While at AsiaInfo, Mr. Zhao was instrumental in building most of
mainland China's Internet infrastructure and was appointed as CEO of Marsec
Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of AsiaInfo that provides networking security
services to large enterprises in China.
"I am honored to serve as president of such a reputable organization as
AAMA. As the Asia Pacific region is key to the health of the global IT
economy, I see AAMA playing an important role between Silicon Valley and Asia
by providing the right connections and resources," said Mr. Zhao. "I look
forward to working with our talented directors and executive management
committee to continue to bring more value to our membership base, both locally
and globally."
Mr. Zhao holds a Ph.D. in engineering from the State University of New
York at Buffalo and an M.B.A. from Rutgers, the State University of New
Jersey.
