Alpha Natural Resources CEO to Speak at Upcoming Investor Conferences

ABINGDON, Va., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alpha Natural Resources, Inc.
(NYSE: ANR), a leading U.S. coal producer, announced that its chief executive
officer, Kevin S. Crutchfield, will appear at two upcoming investor events:
    --  On November 5, 2009, Crutchfield will provide an overview of Alpha
        Natural Resources and meet with investors at the Davenport Metals &
        Mining Conference at the Grand Hyatt New York. The presentation is
        scheduled to begin at 2:55 p.m. EST and will be available via webcast
on
        the company's website at www.alphanr.com.  A replay of the webcast
will
        be available for 90 days following the event.

    --  On November 10, 2009, Crutchfield will present at Raymond James' 2nd
        Annual Coal Investors Conference at the Grand Hyatt New York. 
        Interested investors can access a live webcast of the presentation at
        9:05 a.m. EST at www.alphanr.com.  A replay of the webcast will be
        available for a period of 90 days.
