CHICAGO, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Peter M. Gaines, 57, a well-known
corporate lawyer recognized for his experience in complex finance
transactions, has joined Jenner & Block's Corporate Practice as a partner. Mr.
Gaines comes to Jenner & Block with more than 30 years of experience,
including 20 years practicing with Mayer, Brown & Platt and 13 years
practicing in London. Most recently, he was a Chicago-based partner at Bell,
Boyd & Lloyd.

In his prior practice, Mr. Gaines has represented major institutions such
as Bank of America (and a predecessor, Continental Bank), BNP Paribas,
Dresdner Bank, NatWest, Scotiabank, CIBC, Bank of Montreal, Royal Bank of
Canada, Sanwa Bank, Goldman Sachs, UBS, Merrill Lynch, and Wells Fargo Bank,
and major corporate entities such as Cargill, Petrobras, RFC, and Time Warner
Telecom, in a wide variety of project finance, acquisition, securitization,
and other transactions. He has spearheaded transactions that arranged
financing for projects on five different continents.
Some of Mr. Gaines' past transactions have included a $3.2 billion
offshore oil and gas financing for Petrobras that was named a "Deal of the
Year" by seven industry publications; the representation of Dresdner Bank in a
DM4.5 billion project financing for an AMD Inc. silicon chip manufacturing
facility in Germany; and the representation of Time Warner Telecom Holdings
Inc. in various financing transactions.

Mr. Gaines has been recognized as a leading corporate finance lawyer by

Mr. Gaines received his undergraduate degree in political science from the
University of Wisconsin in 1972 and his law degree from the same institution
in 1975. In law school, he was the Note and Comment Editor of the Law Review
and Order of the Coif. Mr. Gaines is licensed to practice in Illinois, New
York and Minnesota.
