ColorChip Announces Meteor II GPON Class B Enhanced Transceiver Release

Wed Feb 27, 2008 11:00am EST
SAN DIEGO - OFC 2008, February 27 /PRNewswire/ -- ColorChip, a leading
developer and provider of fiber optics components based on PLC technology,
announced today the release of the Meteor II GPON Class B Enhanced diplexer
transceiver for the FTTH market.
"We are delivering a solution that addresses the need for a high
performance GPON diplexer transceiver with a reach of 20km yet with a
competitive price," said Moshe Price, CEO of ColorChip. "Our new Meteor II
GPON Class B Enhanced transceiver was designed to provide a low cost
transceiver for GPON networks with a requirement of a 20km reach."
This high performance transceiver includes a DFB laser, with a typical
output power of +2.5dBm and a PIN receiver with a typical sensitivity of
-28dBm, for a downstream bit rate of 2.488Gbps and an up stream bit rate of
1.244Gbps.
"This product is a strong alternative that may pave the way to the
elimination of the APD receiver from the transceivers in the ONT," said Jaime
Reloj, VP of sales at ColorChip. "This will result in a lower cost GPON ONT
and will reduce the total GPON network cost."
