San Diegans Can Save $10 at SeaWorld and Help the Local Ronald
McDonald House
SAN DIEGO--(Business Wire)--
High gas prices may spoil summer vacation plans for many
Americans, but San Diegans can still enjoy a fun, local trip, while
helping the Ronald McDonald House Charities(R) of San Diego.
Through June 23, patrons to any San Diego McDonald's restaurant
can pick up a coupon to receive a $10 discount and a complimentary
second visit to SeaWorld. A $2 donation will be made to the Ronald
McDonald House Charities of San Diego for each coupon redeemed from a
San Diego restaurant.
"McDonald's is built on a foundation of community involvement, and
here in San Diego, we look for ways to help our neighbors in any way
we can," said Philip Palumbo, president, San Diego County McDonald's
Owner/Operators Association. "Working with SeaWorld, we've created an
offer that provides an easy-on-your-wallet day trip that's fun for
your family and helps the Ronald McDonald House Charities of San
Diego."
Families from the Ronald McDonald House -- along with Ronald
McDonald and representatives from McDonald's, SeaWorld and Ronald
McDonald House Charities of San Diego -- are helping to kick off the
partnership Thursday, May 29. The day's activities include feeding the
dolphins at Rocky Point Preserve, a Shamu show, and a milk and cookie
reception at SeaWorld's newest attraction, Sesame Street Bay of Play.
"We are delighted to be partnering with McDonald's this year on a
program that supports such an important resource for our community,"
said Andy Fichthorn, executive vice president and general manager of
SeaWorld San Diego. "We hope that in some small way we can help the
Ronald McDonald House Charities achieve its goal of serving more
families in San Diego."
The SeaWorld discount coupon is available in all McDonald's
restaurants located in San Diego County, Los Angeles, Bakersfield and
the Central Coast.
San Diego McDonald's owner/operators have committed to raising $2
million over the next several years for the Ronald McDonald House
Charities of San Diego. The funds will help build a new Ronald
McDonald House, tripling its current capacity and enabling the charity
to help more families with ill children.
McDonald's USA, LLC is the leading foodservice provider in the
United States, serving a variety of wholesome foods made from quality
ingredients to millions of customers every day. More than 90 percent
of McDonald's San Diego restaurants are independently owned and
operated by local franchisees.
Ronald McDonald House Charities helps children and families by
operating the Ronald McDonald House and supporting synergistic
programming throughout the San Diego community. The Ronald McDonald
House, opened in 1980, is a "home away from home" where families of
children with cancer, leukemia and other serious illnesses reside and
receive emotional support while children are treated at nearby
hospitals. To date, the House has provided more than 100,000 nights of
lodging for families in need and has awarded more than $3.5 million to
other children's organizations throughout San Diego County. For more
