Mendocino County Winery Receives Climate Champion Award
UKIAH, Calif., April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Parducci Wine Cellars (parducci.com)
received the Climate Champion Award from the California Climate Action
Registry, a leading international thought center addressing climate change
issues (climateregistry.org). One of the first wineries to partner with the
Registry, Parducci received the honor at the opening reception of the annual
conference, Navigating the American Carbon World, on the first day of April.
"Winegrowing begins with the health of the land and its environment," says
Partner Paul Dolan. "The wine business must respond to the challenge of
global warming by changing our grape growing, winemaking and business
practices."
Parducci Wine Cellars is committed to responsible land stewardship,
sustainable viticulture and green business practices that yield superior wines
while protecting the environment. The winery reclaims 100% of the water used
in the cellars through a system of capturing, cleaning, and purifying via an
on-site constructed wetland. Parducci makes wine from locally farmed grapes,
uses certified sustainable farming practices and utilizes 100% green power and
earth-friendly packaging.
"We are creating a model of quality and environmental sustainability for other
wineries to follow," says Partner Tom Thornhill. "Our family owned and
operated winery is doing the right things to create quality wines and a
healthier planet."
To educate the industry, Parducci published The Green Winegrowing Handbook, an
in-depth overview of sustainable, organic and Biodynamic(R) winegrowing
practices. The handbook is available online at
www.pauldolanwine.com/images/stories/Handbook_r5.pdf.
In 2007 Parducci received the Governor's Environmental and Economic Leadership
Award in recognition of the company's status as the nation's first carbon
neutral winery and Parducci's dedication to social responsibility and
environmentally sound practices.
Parducci Wine Cellar's respect for the land yields quality wines, evident by
recent 90+ point scores in several national wine publications. For more
