While California celebrates Small Businesses the last week of May each year; this year is especially important because in this economy we must honor those small business owners who have persevered during this economic crisis. "California small businesses are commonly referred to as the economic engine of California, so today small business owners from across the state come together to celebrate, share their success stories and do what small businesses must do to survive, network," said Betty Jo Toccoli, California Small Business Association and one of 26 small business organizations sponsoring the celebration. California Small Business Day is not only an event to honor small businesses but it is a day where small business owners can acquire extensive information. There will be two morning informational break out sessions which will educate small business owners on AB-32 and e-commerce. "California`s businesses need to implement as much knowledge into their business right now as possible while also understanding what initiatives may be coming from Sacramento that each of us will need to plan for to stay above water," said Betty Jo Toccoli. California Small Business Day also gives small business owners access to government agency representatives in the exhibitor area. This access is particularly important because it gives agencies the opportunity to create awareness about the programs in place that small business owners can take advantage of. Even in this economy communities are pulling together to celebrate California`s small business honorees and small business people who make up the majority of our states business economy. Celebrating from Tehachapi the community has purchased two tables and is flying up 16 local residents to celebrate with the local small business honoree chosen from the 32nd Assembly District. Tehachapi is one of the many successful support stories that give other small business people hope that they too can find a network of support, the education they need to keep their business innovative and the knowledge that the 80 participating Sacramento state legislators truly support the small business community. The day will close with a dessert networking reception that will allow small business owners the opportunity to get acquainted with each other and share the knowledge they have gained these passed few years to keep thriving. This networking proves invaluable because it creates the ability for small business owners to create new relationships so they can easily work together in the future.
