University (NCU) in 2000, Dr. Lou-Chuang Lee as the Minister of National Science
Council (NSC) in 2007, and Prof. Yuei-An Liou as the Director of the Center for
Space and Remote Sensing Research in 2009.

About Prof. J.J. Miau

Prof. Miau is currently of National Space Organization (NSPO), the President of
CICA, and the Distinguished Professor of the NCKU Department of Aeronautics and
Astronautics. He received his BS from Department of Mechanical Engineering at
National Taiwan University (NTU), MS and PhD from Division of Engineering, Brown
University.

Prof. Miau has worked as the President of Aeronautical and Astronautical Society
of Republic of China (AASRC). In NCKU, he has assumed the duties as the Deputy
Director of Research and Service Headquarters (RSH), the Director of Technology
Licensing & Business Incubation Center (TLBIC), the Chairman of Activities of
Aerospace Science and Technology Research Center (ASTRC), and the Chairman and
Associate Professor from Dept of Aeronautics and Astronautics (IAA).

Prof. Miau specialized in aeronautical and astronautical engineering,
turbulence, experimental fluid mechanics, aerospace education, and energy
technology. In addition, he has been issued with seven international/domestic
patents, and published more than sixty academic papers.

Besides his effort in promoting education and researches of aero- and
astronautics, Prof. Miau has also been involved in many research projects
including "development of a vortex flowmeter with intelligent capabilities", as
well as "an experimental study on aerodynamics of a missile body at
high-angle-of-attack with lateral jet control" from NSC, "pico-satellite
subsystem development and technical services" supported by National Space
Program Office, "ABRI wind tunnel establishment and system integration"
supported by Architecture and Building Research Institute, "application of MEMS
sensors" and "PSP/TSP techniques in wind tunnel experiment" supported by
National Defense Foundation, and establishment of Program Office for the MOE
Aerospace Engineering Education Reform Program.

Prof. Miau received many awards including "Excellent-Teaching Award", NCKU
(1992), "Engineering Paper Award", the Society of Chinese Engineers (2002),
"Outstanding research Award", NSI Department of Engineering and Applied Sciences

About The International Academy of Astronautics (IAA)

The information is contained in http://iaaweb.org/content/view/246/378/

The International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) was founded in Stockholm on
August 16, 1960. Since that time, IAA has brought together the world's foremost
experts in the disciplines of astronautics on a regular basis to recognize the
accomplishments of their peers, to explore and discuss cutting-edge issues in
space research and technology, and to provide direction and guidance in the
non-military uses of space and the ongoing exploration of the solar system.

The purposes of IAA, as stated in the Academy's statutes are including foster
the development of astronautics for peaceful purposes, recognize individuals who
have distinguished themselves in a branch of science or technology related to
astronautics, and provide a program through which the membership can contribute
to international endeavors and cooperation in the advancement of aerospace
science, in cooperation with national science or engineering academies.

IAA is based on the tradition of the great classical scientific academies of the
17th century in Rome, London, and Paris, which fostered scientific enquiry and
the exchange of ideas and new information in the earliest days of modern
science. In the words of IAA's second president, Dr. Frank J. Malina, "the
classical academies served in a remarkable manner the phenomenal advance of
man's new method of understanding nature and of applying this understanding for
the benefit of mankind".

IAA coordinates closely with national academies to foster a spirit of
cooperation and progress that transcends national boundaries, cultures, and
institutions. For example, in recent years, joint meetings were held with the
French Academy of Sciences, the Royal Society, the Royal Netherlands Academy of
Arts and Sciences, the Royal Society of Canada, the US National Academy of
Sciences, the US National Academy of Engineering, the US Institute of Medicine,
the Austrian Academy of Sciences, the Israel Academy of Sciences, the Norwegian
Academy of Science and Humanities, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Academy
of Sciences of Turin, the Australian Academy of Sciences, the Australian Academy
of Technological Science and Engineering, The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts
and Sciences, and the Brazilian Academy of Sciences.

About National Cheng Kung University (NCKU):

NCKU is located in the ancient city of Tainan, the historical and ancient
cultural capital city of Taiwan, which boasts more than 50 national relics
sanctioned by the government and is approximately 250 kilometers south of
Taipei. It is connected to all major cities in Taiwan by the recently initiated
state-of-the-art Taiwan High Speed Rail. Further, this historical heritage is
the pride of Tainan City and represents a rich cultural resource to NCKU. The
technological sectors in the Southern Taiwan Science Park offer students at NCKU
with a stage to apply what they have learned into practice.

With three quarters of a century of distinguished history, with well over
130,000 powerful alumni now dotting the globe, many have achieved supreme
successes in arts, business, education, science, technology and healthcare and
are ready and willing to assist the 22,000 academic selective students and 1200
academic faculty members. Currently, both have an international flavor, with
enormous regional support, and there is a permeating culture of proactive
intellectual growth on the world`s stage NCKU in Tainan, Taiwan, has evolved
from its engineering genesis into a powerful and comprehensive research
international university in the Asia Pacific.

Since NCKU`s establishment in 1931, it has developed into a research intensive
and comprehensive university with integrated academic fields in nine colleges:
Liberal Arts, Sciences, Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Computer Science,
Planning & Design, Management, Social Sciences, Medicine, and Bioscience &
Biotechnology. NCKU currently offers 40 undergraduate programs (excluding the
Program of Bachelor`s Degree), 78 master`s degree programs, 54 doctoral programs
and 20 master`s degree programs for working professionals.
