From January to May, 2009, the profit of Chinese paper and paper product
industry was RMB 11.627 billion, reducing by RMB 3.821 billion YOY. 

In 2009H1, the fixed asset investment in Chinese Paper Manufacture Industry was
RMB 53.474 billion, rising by 18.3% YOY; the growth rate decreased by 10.60%
YOY. 

In 2009H1, the production of the Chinese paper pulp was 9.0495 million tons,
decreasing by 10.51% YOY. Productions of Henan, Shandong, Guangdong, Hebei and
Hainan ranked among the Top 5. The aggregate production of the five regions took
up 72.54% of the total production in China. Regions with comparatively higher
growth rates were Guizhou, Hubei and Jiangxi. 

In 2009H1, the output of Chinese machine-made paper and pressboard was 43.1039
million tons, rising by 5.2% YOY. Productions of Shandong, Zhejiang, Guangdong,
Jiangsu and Henan ranked among the Top 5. The aggregate production of the five
regions took up 69.73% of the total production in China. Regions with
comparatively higher growth rates were Chongqing, Inner Mongolia, Guizhou,
Hainan and Anhui. 

In 2009H1, the output of Chinese newsprint paper was 2.2990 million tons,
reducing by 8.6% YOY. Productions of Shandong, Hunan, Guangdong, Hebei and
Fujian ranked among the Top 5. The aggregate production of the five regions
accounted for 77.9% of the total production in China. Regions with comparatively
higher growth rates were Inner Mongolia, Henna, Hunan and Sichuan. 

In 2009H1, the output of Chinese paper products totaled 19.845 million tons,
rising by 17.6% YOY. Productions of Guangdong, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Jiangsu and
Shandong ranked among the Top 5. The aggregate production of the five regions
accounted for 17.6% of the total production in China. Regions with comparatively
higher growth rates were Sichuan, Ningxia, Jiangxi, Hunan and Jilin. 

In 2009H1, the output of Chinese carton (corrugated case) was 9.8454 million
tons. Productions of Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong and Henan ranked
among the Top 5. The aggregate production of the five regions took up 61.25% of
the total production in China. 

In 2009H1, the output of boxboard was 5.9080 million tons. Productions of
Zhejiang, Hebei, Shandong, Henan and Anhui ranked among the Top 5. The aggregate
production of the five regions took up 61.03% of the total production in China.
Chinese Paper Manufacture Industry suffers less from the financial crisis
compared with other industries. This is because the downstream of the Paper
Manufacture Industry is of a large scale; there is great demand in the
downstream. Meanwhile, the industries in the downstream are widely distributed,
which effectively eliminates demand decrease of some industries caused by the
financial crisis.
