President Peres previously announced the appointment of Dr. Miriam and
Sheldon G. Adelson, as Honorary Chairs for the Conference.
The Adelsons welcomed the position saying "We are deeply honored to serve
as Honorary Chairs for President Peres's Conference commemorating the 60th
anniversary of the State. We see in this gathering and through the honorable
people who will be present, both Jews and non-Jews, recognition of the
tremendous accomplishments achieved by the Israeli people in a nation whose
establishment is a realization both of our private dreams as well as those of
many generations of Jews over thousands of years.
Our personal story is also inextricably linked to Jerusalem. We were
married in the city 17 years ago as an American entrepreneur and an Israeli
physician, both children of Jews whom had fled Europe, from the horrors of
the Holocaust and the pogroms. We are therefore strongly committed supporting
Israel's President to ensure this conference's success - for the benefit of
the State of Israel on this historic occasion of her sixtieth anniversary."
Elliott Broidy, Chairman of the Markstone Capital Partners has agreed to
serve as Chairman of the conference's Benefactor Committee:
"I am greatly honored to accept this role and I am very pleased with the
overwhelming response I am receiving," observed Broidy, "We are all committed
to conducting a serious, privately-funded examination of the challenges
facing Israel, the Jewish people and our world."
Broidy was pleased to note that his efforts are today joined by three
other business leaders, Sir Ronald Cohen of London, and Alan Casden and Lenny
Sands of Los Angeles.
The conference is being organized by The Jewish People Policy Planning
Institute, chaired by Ambassador Dennis Ross. Former Israel Cabinet Secretary
Israel Maimon, is managing the steering committee and promises, "This will be
the 'conference of the decade'."
