Craft & Hobby Association Celebrates by Hosting a Kids Craft Fair for the Boys
& Girls Club of Chicago General Robert E. Wood Center

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J., July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The Craft & Hobby Association
(CHA) in conjunction with its annual CHA Summer Convention & Trade Show held
at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, ILJuly 18 - 20, is
proud to announce that it will host a three-hour Kids Craft Fair for 150
children of the General Robert E. Wood Boys & Girls Club of Chicago (BGCC)
Center located at 2950 W. 25th Street in Chicago, IL on July 16, 2008,
starting at 10am, as a way to say "thank you" to the greater Chicago area
which has hosted the Summer Show for almost three decades. Additionally, in
honor of the event an official proclamation designating July 16 as official
"Kids Craft Day in Chicago" was issued by the Honorable Mayor Richard M.
Daley.
In his proclamation Mayor Daley sited sharing a passion for crafts with
kids, inspiring creativity, fostering manual dexterity, promoting social
skills, enforcing spatial and conceptual faculties and helping build good will
within the community as factors behind the proclamation. He further encouraged
"all Chicagoans to recognize the importance of family and to spend quality
time with their loved ones" on this day.
"Kids Craft Day is a wonderful opportunity for our young people to explore
their creativity, learn new skills and have a unique experience," explained
Angela Benke, BGCC Program Director. "Kids love to do new things and Kids
Craft Day offers just that. We are very grateful to the Craft & Hobby
Association for supporting this event at the Club."
"I have fond memories as being a former member of the Boys & Girls Club of
Chicago. The club provided not only a sense of belonging, but a great social
atmosphere. I learned some valuable life's lessons while participating in the
club's activities and sports offerings. There isn't a baseball season that
goes by where I don't think of my Boys & Girls Club team manager. He taught me
it's the best team that wins, not the best nine players," explained CHA Member
and former BGCC Club Member Tom Vasco, Vice President, 3L Corporation.
CHA's members including Terri O, Duncan Enterprises, Jo-Ann Fabric and
Craft Stores, FloraCraft, Arte Latin-Oh!, Creative Hands, Scrapbook Retailer
Magazine, Memory Makers Magazine, EK Success, Ellison, Pack-o-Fun Magazine,
Leisure Arts, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, and research partner Phoenix
Multicultural, have all donated product, time and effort to make this event
special for the children of the Boys & Girls Club of Chicago. Additionally
more than 40 companies have donated over $25,000 in craft products and
