Eileen Ivers & Immigrant Soul to Perform Saturday, September 6th at the Orange
County Great Park

IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Eileen Ivers, the sizzling Celtic
violinist and musical star of "Riverdance," will perform at the Orange County
Great Park on Saturday, September 6th at 8:00 p.m. as part of the Great Park
Night Flight Concert Series. Ivers will perform with championship Irish step
dancers from the Butler-Fearon-O'Connor School of Irish Dance in Orange
County. Attendance and parking are free to the public.
Called the "Jimi Hendrix of the violin" by The New York Times, Eileen
Ivers has established herself as the pre-eminent exponent of the Irish fiddle
in the world today. She has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, the
National Symphony at The Kennedy Center, the Boston Pops, the Chieftains,
Patti Smith, among others. She has performed for presidents and royalty
worldwide.
The daughter of Irish immigrants, Eileen Ivers grew up in the culturally
diverse neighborhood of Bronx, New York. Rooted in traditional Irish music
since the age of eight, Eileen proceeded to win nine All-Ireland Fiddle
Championships, a tenth on tenor banjo, and over 30 championship medals, making
her one of the most awarded musicians ever to compete in these prestigious
competitions.
In 1999, Eileen established Eileen Ivers & Immigrant Soul, a compelling
mix of African and Latin percussion and bass, traditional Irish instruments,
and soulful American vocals. The group, all American-born musicians who grew
up in Irish immigrant communities, headlines major performing arts centers,
guest stars with numerous symphony orchestras, performs at prominent festivals
worldwide, and has appeared on national and international television.
Ivers' recording credits include over 80 contemporary and traditional
albums as well as numerous movie scores. Her 2004 release Eileen Ivers &
Immigrant Soul continues to illustrate why Ivers is hailed as one of the great
innovators and pioneers in the Celtic and world music genres.

New security restrictions could hurt airlines

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Tighter security measures at U.S. airports following an attempt to blow up a Detroit-bound jet could dampen enthusiasm for air travel, hurting the airline industry just as it seemed poised to recover from a period of bruising losses, some industry experts say.
