Yankee Group Launches Machine-to-Machine Index Tool

Tue Apr 1, 2008 3:30pm EDT
New Interactive Data Product Provides Deep Insight and
Quantitative Analysis on the Untapped M2M Market
LAS VEGAS--(Business Wire)--
Yankee Group today announced at CTIA Wireless 2008 in Las Vegas
that it has released a new interactive data tool, the
Machine-to-Machine (M2M) Index. The M2M Index--the first of its
kind--is an online engine that delivers data along with quantitative
analysis of the drivers and inhibitors of the untapped, but burgeoning
M2M market.

Yankee Group M2M Index delivers market data for:

-- Sector-specific growth across nine categories including
        healthcare, industrial monitoring, security, transportation,
        and utilities

   -- Number of connections

   -- Revenue per application

-- Average selling price per M2M module

The tool also includes the impact of drivers such a regulatory
compliance, capex, component costs, standards, and budgets.

The Yankee Group M2M Index is based on actual market survey data
that resonates most with M2M vendors and carriers, whether a company
is already entrenched in the market or is considering points of entry.
Yankee Group regularly updates the data using market forecasts and
survey data to keep the tool current. Results are displayed
statistically and with graphical charts. The M2M Index is coupled with
qualitative research and supported by analyst inquiry time.

"Our clients expect a high level of differentiated data market
analysis and insight from Yankee Group based upon our nearly 40 years
of communications research," said John Jacobs, Yankee Group senior
vice president of marketing and product management. "After several
years of researching and collecting data on M2M, Yankee Group created
the M2M Index to meet the evolving demands of innovative, competitive
players in the communications industry, which is continuously being
challenged by the impact of connectivity on their businesses."

The M2M market is poised for growth, which means there is
substantial untapped revenue potential for enterprises in industries
such as logistics, secured access, manufacturing and
telecommunications. With tens of billions of unconnected machines
around the world, there is an opportunity to establish new connections
across multiple sectors, from healthcare to automotive. Clients that
leverage the Yankee Group M2M Index data tool will be equipped with
critical information required in today's marketplace to develop
competitive business strategies and create new revenue streams.

The beta launch of Yankee Group M2M Index will be revealed at the
M2M Zone at CTIA Wireless 2008 on Tuesday, April 1, 2008. The free
half-day seminar, titled M2M Carrier Strategies: The New Rules, will
be hosted by Yankee Group senior analyst Marcus Torchia. The session
is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. in the Las Vegas Convention
Center, Room N103. For any companies interested in participating in
