The Detroit Wine Organization and The Children's Center Join Forces to Support
Metro Detroit Families

DETROIT, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The Detroit Wine Organization and The
Children's Center share a core value -- a passion for helping people in metro
Detroit. For the past four years, the two organizations have worked together
on the successful Detroit Uncorked event at Ford Field. Recently, they
announced they would broaden that relationship. Working together, The Detroit
Wine Organization hopes to provide The Children's Center with additional
resources to ensure that at-risk children and families -- more than 100,000
people in metro Detroit -- have a better chance at a brighter future.
Debora Matthews, CEO of The Children's Center, believes the strengthened
relationship will "enable us to engage a wider audience of young and diverse
people in our mission." Mark High, President of The Detroit Wine
Organization, observes, "As our respect for The Children's Center has grown
over the past few years, it only made sense to expand our collaboration to
benefit Southeast Michigan."
The two organizations will link each other's Web sites, and publicize
their events to their respective memberships. Discussions continue regarding
further expanding the links between the two groups, including increased
communication at both the staff and Board of Directors levels.
The Children's Center's major fundraising initiatives this year include
the celebratory wine tasting event, April 25, at The Ford Conference and Event
Center in Dearborn, the 24th Annual Celebrity Golf Classic, An Afternoon with
Chauncey Billups and Friends, July 28, at the Birmingham Country Club, and the
Grand Opening of the Book Cadillac in October.
Founded in 1929 by Senator James Couzens, The Children's Center is one of
the largest child guidance organizations in Michigan, with a spectrum of
programs supporting children and families dealing with issues surrounding
abuse and neglect, behavior, child development and delinquency. The
Children's Center has been "developing strong children and successful
families" by providing them with the programs and services they not only need,
but also deserve. The funds raised go a long way in helping The Children's
Center continue reaching out to thousands of children and families in need.

The Detroit Wine Organization promotes the knowledge and enjoyment of wine
by exposing its membership to the great wines and wine experts in our local
market, while benefiting other local charities. It currently has over 6,000
members. Since its founding in 2003, The Detroit Wine Organization has
donated more than $250,000 to metro Detroit charities. The Detroit Wine
Organization's events include a monthly Wine Down Wednesday wine tasting, a
DWO Book Club for wine lovers that enjoy reading, as well as the annual
Detroit Uncorked. For information on free membership, visit
