Assurant Board of Directors Declares Quarterly Dividend of $0.14 per Share

NEW YORK, Aug. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Assurant, Inc. ("Assurant")
(NYSE: AIZ), a premier provider of specialty insurance and insurance-related
products and services, announced today that its board of directors has
declared a quarterly dividend of $0.14 per common share.  The dividend will be
payable on September 9, 2008 to shareholders of record as of August 25, 2008.
    Future dividend declarations will be made at the discretion of the board
of directors and will be based on such factors as the company's earnings,
financial condition, cash requirements, future prospects and other factors.
