Aspiranet Celebrates National Adoption Awareness Month, Adoption Day on Nov. 21 with Children and Families

Tue Nov 3, 2009 5:16pm EST
SAN FRANCISCO--(Business Wire)--
According to the Administration for Children and Families, approximately 293,000
children in the U.S. enter the nation`s foster care system each year. Currently,
there are 496,000 children living in foster care in the U.S. It is estimated
130,000 of these children (42 percent are ages 9 and older) are unable to return
safely to their birth families and are eligible, and waiting, for adoption.

For 30 years, Aspiranet, one of the largest foster-adoption agencies in
California, has worked to ensure children are placed in permanent, loving homes
- touching the lives of more than 10,000 families.

With 44 satellite offices in 13 California counties (Fresno, Kern, Kings, Los
Angeles, Madera, Merced, Orange, San Bernardino, San Francisco, San Luis Obispo,
Stanislaus, Tulare, and Ventura) Aspiranet will participate and celebrate the
joys of adoption and encourage families and individuals to provide children with
permanent families through adoption.

"There is no greater aspiration in life than to help children in need and
together we can raise hope and empower communities," said Art Chaparro, Director
of Development for Aspiranet. "Every day children face family crisis. Hard as it
is to imagine, children are often neglected, abused, abandoned, or have special
needs or disabilities. Children over the age of nine, teenagers, youths with
special needs, and siblings especially need loving homes."
