Frontier's Favorite Animals Receive Honor Two Years in a Row
DENVER, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- As if their heads aren't big enough
already, Frontier today announced its favorite "spokesanimals" are preparing
to add a 2008 Silver Effie Award to their already overflowing trophy case.
Frontier's "spokesanimals" were recognized for the popular 2007 'Denver's
Favorite Animal' advertising campaign featuring seven of Frontier's animals
competing for the distinct honor. This is the second year in a row the
animals have nabbed an Effie for the Company.
The prestigious Effie Awards recognize leaders in the advertising industry
not only for the creativity of their campaigns, but also the effectiveness.
Frontier Airlines was the only company in the competitive transportation
industry category to even be considered for an award this year.
"It is such a great honor to receive this recognition for our 'Denver's
Favorite Animal' campaign," said Frontier Airlines Director of Advertising,
Diane Willmann. "This campaign was special in that it engaged the viewer to
actively participate in the voting process. Leading up to the announcement we
received more than one million online votes and the promotion contributed to a
nearly 50% increase in traffic to our Web site over the year before."
'Denver's Favorite Animal' campaign combined 13 different television spots
airing in the Denver market, plus additional commercials posted on the popular
YouTube video sharing Web site; an online campaign headquarters, including a
campaign blog; a 14-minute podcast featuring a candidates' debate; and an
online campaign merchandise store that sold more than 800 "press kits,"
featuring T-shirts, buttons and stickers for each candidate.
The campaign, created by Grey New York featured seven popular Frontier
animals competing for the honor of being 'Denver's Favorite Animal'. Larry
the lynx announced the penguins, Jim, Joe, Jay and Gary, as the winners during
the 79th Annual Academy Awards.
