Increased Network Complexity Drives Demand for EAGLE Signaling
Solutions
BARCELONA, Spain--(Business Wire)--
Tekelec's (NASDAQ: TKLC) EAGLE (R)5 Integrated Signaling System
(ISS), the industry's global market share-leading signaling platform,
expanded footprint in 2007 with the addition of 22 new customers in
Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, Central America, Europe, and the Middle
East. Tekelec now has EAGLE customers in 66 countries.
"Tekelec continues to see tremendous success with our EAGLE
signaling solutions," said Ron de Lange, executive vice president,
Global Product Solutions. "There are multiple factors that play into
this growth, but chief among them are Tekelec's commitment to
innovation, continued investment in EAGLE as a platform to support our
customers' migration to next-gen and IMS networks, and the trust that
service providers have globally in us to deliver what they need today
and tomorrow."
Also driving the demand for EAGLE is continued strong growth in
the number of global mobile subscribers in emerging markets, short
message service (SMS) growth worldwide, government-mandated number
portability, and more demand for routing flexibility. The EAGLE has
been enhanced with new capabilities - increased signaling capacity,
scalability and performance - designed to address these issues as well
as the complexities of hybrid, next-gen and IMS networks.
EAGLE is the foundation for a practical migration to SIP-based
networks. The EAGLE, in conjunction with Tekelec's TekCore SIP session
manager and Tekelec's TekSCIM service mediation product, provides
end-to-end signaling across hybrid and next-gen networks. And, by
adding Tekelec's performance management solution, service providers
also can monitor network performance and service level agreements
across multi-protocol, multi-technology networks.
The new capabilities also build on Tekelec's number portability
(NP) leadership. The company's NP solutions enable service providers
to meet number portability mandates around the globe. Tekelec in 2007
expanded its global NP footprint to 10 new countries, winning deals
with 26 service providers globally, including Mexico and Brazil.
Tekelec now has NP solutions or orders with more than 80 service
providers in 27 countries.
Tekelec's NP solution is integrated with the EAGLE and can be
combined with advanced routing features. This "triggerless" NP
solution enables service providers to lower costs without additional
investment in intelligent switching upgrades. Also driving number
portability orders is the replacement of older NP systems with a more
efficient, scalable, and cost-effective NP system that supports all of
the customers' NP requirements - voice, SMS, multi-media message
Service (MMS) and prepaid - on a single platform, rather than having a
different solution for each.
Tekelec is highlighting EAGLE signaling solutions during Mobile
World Congress, February 11-14, 2008, in Hall 1, Stand 1F44 at the
Fira de Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain.
About Tekelec EAGLE 5 Integrated Signaling System (ISS)
Tekelec's EAGLE(R)5 Integrated Signaling System (ISS) delivers the
performance levels to drive this network. From a single platform, the
EAGLE 5 ISS performs key functions such as signal transfer, signaling
gateway and number portability. Integrated applications provide the
efficient delivery of a wide range of intelligent routing, revenue
assurance and value-added services. Service providers can optimize the
use of network resources, manage subscribers and migrate them to new
technologies, control fraud and interoperate between networks with
disparate technologies. Tekelec's EAGLE 5 ISS delivers dramatic
database size, signaling capacity and transaction speed. These
advanced features are coupled with next-generation IP connectivity,
providing the transition to the converged network model. Built on the
industry-proven EAGLE platform, the EAGLE 5 ISS is a high-capacity,
fault-tolerant packet switch, delivering reliable global signaling and
real-time, transaction-based applications.
