Guitar Center Sessions Presents an Evening of Discussion and Insight with RZA and Special Guests
Wu-Tang Clan Superstar Rapper/Producer RZA to Appear @ HOLLYWOOD
Guitar Center In-Store Presentation on February 28, 2008 with Bruce
Forat and Special Guests
LOS ANGELES--(Business Wire)--
In the next installment of this exciting "GC Sessions" series,
Guitar Center welcomes RZA, music icon, kung fu flick connoisseur,
actor, author, businessman, student of I Ching and one of the most
groundbreaking producers to ever come out of the hip hop womb. Most
notably, RZA formed, shaped and manifested the multi-platinum, Grammy
winning, genre-defying group from Staten Island, Wu-Tang Clan. As
producer of the group's albums, RZA pioneered the "sample based"
style, influencing modern day producers like Kanye West and Just
Blaze. And at the heart of the style sits a machine that has helped
shape his unique sound, the Roland MV-8800.
Created to promote players with a deep passion for and commitment
to the craft, "GC Sessions" seeks to educate, inspire and conserve the
tradition and art of hip-hop.
This music education - based initiative featuring informative,
provocative panel discussions and hands-on tutorials, serves as an
incubator for musicians and provides them with an opportunity to
network with their peers and gain insight and knowledge from their
heroes in a comfortable and intimate setting. The goal is to help
musicians further their musical aspirations and provide tools for
career growth.
Guitar Center will also celebrate the Wu-Tang Clan legacy with an
exclusive, very limited edition Roland Forat/RZA Customized MV-8800.
Only eight machines will be made available to the public, unveiled and
on-sale at the Sessions event. They'll feature customizations from
legendary electronic pioneer, Bruce Forat and hand-painted artwork by
Trevor Carlton. The custom designs on these exclusive machines are
influenced by Wu-Tang's 8 Diagrams album. The purchasers will also get
the opportunity to attend a private tutorial session from RZA.
Get up close and personal with RZA and designer Bruce Forat as
they present this exciting collaboration Thursday, February 28th at
Guitar Center's Hollywood location. The RZA-led presentation to the
public begins at 7:00 PM PST with host DJ Hapa and will include a talk
with Bruce Forat and musician Shavo Odadjian (System Of A Down) plus
more special guests to be announced shortly.
There will be a "MEDIA ONLY" portion of the evening from 5:30-6:30
pm. Guitar Center Hollywood is located at 7425 Sunset Blvd.

About RZA
Founder and chief producer for one of hip-hop's most innovative
acts, the Wu-Tang Clan, RZA is one of hip-hop's seminal artists. The
Wu-Tang Clan emerged in the early 1990s as a revolutionary concept
band from Staten Island, NYC with nine MCs. RZA's spare, menacing
production on the band's breakthrough Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
was wildly original and spawned hundreds of copycats. RZA has also
released solo albums as Bobby Digital, as well as doing soundtracks
for Jim Jarmusch's film "Ghost Dog: The Way of The Samurai," and
Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill" films. He also acted in Ridley Scott's
recent "American Gangster."
About Bruce Forat
Bruce Forat has been at the forefront of music electronics for the
last 25 years. Forat has personally customized drum machines and
keyboards for top musicians including Prince, Dr. Dre, Jermaine
Dupree, The Neptunes, Madonna Will.i.am, Lil' Jon, Snoop Dogg and
more.
