Markel Announces CampaignPro(SM) for Protecting Campaign Financial Assets

Thu Nov 12, 2009 4:25pm EST
RICHMOND, Va., Nov. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Markel Risk Solutions, a
subsidiary of Markel Corporation, today introduced CampaignPro(SM), a
multi-line, admitted insurance product to address risks faced by United States
Senate, United States House, gubernatorial, and other state and local
political campaigns, and campaign committees.

"Campaigns are unique entities with unique liabilities. The financial assets
should be protected for the purposes of electing the candidate. From auto
liability to renting space and special events -- campaigns need to consider
how to best protect assets for the purpose at hand," commented Barrett
Hubbard, Managing Director for Markel Risk Solutions. "2010 is a very active
election cycle with all 435 United State House of Representatives and 36
United States Senate seats being contested. In addition, 39 states will elect
governors," he added.

Campaigns have no exemptions from liability under any statutory law.
CampaignPro addresses the vast majority of liability exposures in a
coordinated approach that reduces gaps, simplifies coverage, and keeps costs
down. CampaignPro consulting broker, Bill Howard, Vice President of Clarke &
Sampson, Incorporated stated, "All campaigns engage in a diverse set of
fund-raising and related campaign events. Much like any business, these events
create liabilities that can financially impair a campaign and divert resources
away from getting the candidate elected."

CampaignPro is an admitted product available in most U.S. states. More
information is available at www.campaignpro.com.
