Government Informant Randall Lee Rahal In The News Again: SK Foods LP, Continues Fight to Reclaim Seized Funds

Tue May 5, 2009 9:42pm EDT
SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
Today, the government announced a plea agreement with Robert C. Turner, Jr., a
B&G Foods, Inc. employee who acknowledged accepting bribes from independent food
broker Randall Lee Rahal and Rahal`s company Intramark USA, Inc.

Randall Lee Rahal, was never an officer, employee or director of SK Foods LP,
and instead was an independent commissioned broker. He himself has plead guilty
to numerous federal violations and owes SK Foods, LP substantial sums of money
for unearned commissions he received from the company. Rahal repeatedly violated
his independent broker obligations to SK Foods, LP by allegedly bribing
employees of an SK Foods, LP customer.

Rahal, according to court documents, has become an informant in an attempt to
reduce his sentence. That does not change the fact that he owes the company a
substantial sum of money. SK Foods, LP previously filed a motion on through its
counsel, Malcolm Segal, asking the Court to permit it to make a claim for funds
seized by the government, alleging that it too is a victim of the broker`s
misconduct.

SK Foods LP`s position is clear: Rahal has committed numerous acts of bad faith.
He unequivocally admitted that he conducted his independent duties by illegal
means, including bribery, and is not entitled to any commissions for his work
during the period of the conduct admitted in his own guilty plea. This new plea
agreement confirms that fact.

The government has stated, and the company agrees, that there were never any
health or safety problems with any of the SK Foods LP products sold by the
company and thus no harm to any consumer.
