Sybase Appoints Jay Foreman SVP, GM of North America Region

Industry Veteran Brings Deep Experience in Sales, Services and
                              Operations
DUBLIN, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
Sybase, Inc. (NYSE:SY), a leading provider of enterprise
infrastructure and mobile software, today appointed Jay Foreman senior
vice president and general manager of the North America region. A
veteran in the technology industry with over 20 years of experience,
Foreman is responsible for Sybase's North America field operations.

   "Jay has a deep knowledge of sales and business strategy in the
integration and enterprise software markets, and has built an
impressive track record in sales, general management and operations in
both large and small companies," said Steve Capelli, president of
Worldwide Field Operations, Sybase. "The addition of Jay to our

Enterprise strategy."

   Before joining Sybase, Foreman was senior vice president of
Worldwide Sales at GuardianEdge Technologies, Inc., responsible for
global direct and indirect sales. Prior to that, he held several
positions in direct, partner and international sales, including vice
president and general manager of Worldwide Sales and Partner
Operations for BEA Systems. During his years at BEA, Foreman expanded
the company's worldwide OEM and channel sales activities and extended
strategic partnerships with major independent software vendors,
systems integrators and other alliance partners. In addition to sales
and operations, he built and led complex services and support
organizations. He held similar roles at DataChannel and Netegrity.
