Mon Aug 11, 2008 9:39pm EDT
NEW YORK, Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- In a recent bout of US athletic glory,
the Men's and Women's Olympic Polo Teams opened with impressive victories over
host country China at the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Competing in front of a largely pro-China crowd, the USA Men's Team put up
a stellar defense in spite of four failed power plays in their opening match
against China to win 8-4. The women's team outlasted China to beat them 12-11,
setting an Olympic record for the most combined goals (23) in a women's water
polo game.
Recent wins, combined with a pervading advertising campaign have powered
greater exposure for TEAM USA leading into the Games. The campaign, which was
launched by lifestyle and environmental media specialist Kinetic last week,
has put the teams on over 25,000 static and digital advertising faces in the
US. The intensity of the toughest sport in the water is captured on outdoor
bulletins, in clever :15 and :30 second digital and video spots running on
subways, in bars and on more than a dozen other highly-trafficked venues in
top US cities. Thousands of fans have stayed connected to the team in Beijing
using SMS text messages to receive alerts, schedules and live game updates as
well as through a mobile web micro site (www.usawaterpolo.mobi).
Chairman of USA Water Polo Association, Michael Graff commented, "We are
overwhelmed at USAWP with what you and your team have created for our
Olympic team."
The men's team will play Italy on Tuesday, August 12th @ 12:10pm (9:10pm
PSTAugust 11). The women's team will return to action against defending Gold
Medalist Italy on Wednesday, August 13 at 3:40pm (12:40am PST).
