Soldier Ride Returns to the High Desert of Nevada and Arizona

WHAT:
Wounded soldiers from the current war in Iraq and Afghanistan will kick off
Wounded Warrior Project's 2009 High Desert Soldier Ride in Las Vegas, Nev. on
Tuesday, Nov. 10. More than 20 wounded veterans will take part in the five-day
cycling event which will wind through Lake Havasu City and Phoenix, Ariz.  To
show support and thanks to the brave men and women serving the United States,
U-Haul has been the National Tour Sponsor and JW Marriott Las Vegas will
provide complimentary meals and lodging to the wounded warriors during the
ride in Las Vegas.

WHO:
The Soldier Ride High Desert will bring together wounded warriors from the
current war in Iraq and Afghanistan to cycle on adaptive equipment from Las
Vegas to Phoenix.

WHEN/WHERE: 

    --  Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009: Warriors arrive in Las Vegas for bike fitting
at
        JW Marriott Resort & Spa. Dinner will be held at the Rampart Casino,
        followed by an event at the Palms Casino.

        --  7 a.m. - 8 a.m. Breakfast at JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa's,

        --  2 p.m. Solider Ride Departure from TPC Summerlin

        --  4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Warriors arrive at Captain's Cove Restaurant at

    --  Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009: Warriors ride in Lake Havasu City. Warriors
        then travel to Phoenix

        --  9 a.m.  Kick-off Ceremony followed by community ride throughout

    --  Friday, Nov. 13, 2009: Ride starting after breakfast at U-Haul House
        designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and arrive at U-Haul corporate
        headquarters for post ride BBQ.
        --  8 a.m. - 10 a.m. VIP breakfast for cyclists

        --  12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. Landing Ceremony

    --  Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009: Warriors ride in Maricopa county starting at
        the Maricopa County Sheriff's office, ending at the Silver Spur Saloon
        during the Cave Creek Bicycle Festival.
        --  9 a.m. Warriors begin ride at Maricopa County Sheriff's Office

        --  1 p.m. Warriors arrive at the Silver Spur Saloon during the Cave
            Creek Bicycle Festival.


    --  Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009: Riders will attend an Arizona Cardinals Game
        courtesy of U-Haul.



WHY:
Soldier Ride is a program of Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) that provides key
rehabilitation opportunities for wounded warriors and raises public awareness
for those that have been severely injured during the current war on terror.
Wounded Warrior Project is a non-profit organization whose mission is to honor
and empower wounded warriors. WWP offers services and programs like benefits
and career counseling, advocacy initiatives and combat stress seminars to aid
in the transition from hospital bed to an independent, productive life.  All
participants with a disability or missing a limb or limbs are provided the
adaptive equipment they need to cycle.
