GVT Reports Record Second-Quarter Revenue, EBITDA, Net Income and Subscribers
Growth
Revenue grew by 36%, EBITDA by 44% with EBITDA Margin of 38%, Net Income
reached R$ 58 million, and a record 156% growth of Net Lines Additions

    CURITIBA, Brazil, July 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- GVT (Holding) S.A.
(Bovespa: GVTT3, Reuters: GVTT3.SA and Bloomberg GVTT3:BZ), a leading
facilities-based telecommunications and Internet solutions provider company in
Brazil, announces today its results for the second quarter of 2008 (2Q08). The
following information is consolidated in Brazilian Reais (R$).
    PERIOD HIGHLIGHTS
    Net Revenue grew by 35.5%, compared to 2Q07, reaching a total of R$317.0
million.
    Revenue from core business (services based on GVT's lines in service) grew
by 41.3%, reaching a total of R$286.7 million;
    Net revenue from Next Generation Services (NGS) grew by 95.5% reaching
R$86.9 million, which represents 27.4% of total 2Q08 net revenue. Revenue from
broadband grew by 81.4%, which represents 16.3% of total 2Q08 net revenue;
    EBITDA grew by 44.0%, reaching a total of R$118.8 million for 2Q08
compared to R$82.5 million in 2Q07;
    EBITDA margin reached 37.5% compared to 35.3% in 2Q07, a growth of 2.2
p.p., due to increase of 1.1 p.p. in gross income margin and a reduction of
1.1. p.p. in SG&A expenses;
    Net Income increased by R$15.1 million, an increase of 35.0% compared to
2Q07, and reached R$58.2 million;
    Lines net additions reached a total of 165,847 lines in 2Q08, a growth of
155.8% compared to 2Q07, and 28.8% compared to 1Q08.
    Capital Expenditure (CapEx) reached R$164.7 million in 2Q08, an increase
of 69.6% compared to 2Q07 and 11.9% compared to 1Q08. Total local accesses
deployed in the quarter were 129,670 compared to 62,990 in 2Q07 and 131,960 in
1Q08.
    In May 2008, GVT has expanded its operations to Contagem (State of Minas
Gerais), a city with a population of close to 700,000 inhabitants.
