JetBlue Offers Environment-Hating Cure for Carmageddon

Is this the cure that's worse than the disease?

In response to the coming, traffic-crippling closure of the 405 freeway -- dubbed "Carmageddon" by panic-stricken Los Angeles residents -- JetBlue has added four flights to its schedule on Saturday, between Burbank and Long Beach, a roughly 35-mile trek.

The price for the flights? Four dollars each way -- or $5, if customers would prefer the luxury of an "Even More Space" seat, should they wish to stretch out for the grueling, 20-minute flight.

The special consists of two flights from Burbank to Long Beach, at 12:20 p.m. and 6:35 p.m., and two flights from Long Beach to Burbank, at 1:50 p.m. and 7:55 p.m.

Surely, JetBlue's environmental blueprint will grow to Godzilla-like proportions with the stunt.

"We're helping Angelenos get over the gridlock altogether and enjoy the Valley or the beach, their favorite soccer match or a food festival, without having to brave the traffic jams to get there," Mark Rogers, JetBlue's L.A. marketing manager, said of the offer.

The nice thing is, should customers take advantage of the offer to hit up the beach, they will likely be able to actually see the damage being done to L.A.'s already imperiled air in real time while they soak up rays.
