TOKYO--(Business Wire)--
Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:6703) announced it has
delivered an IP telephony system to NTT Communications Corp. The
system is based on OKI's IP telephony server, "IP CONVERGENCE(R)
Server SS9100," and NTT Com selected it for its strong track record in
mobile Centrex systems for wireless LAN, PHS and large-scale IP
Centrex systems.

NTT Com offers high-quality and highly reliable communication
products and services to enterprises and has the strongest track
record in Japan with its "Arcstar IP-VPN" and ".Phone Ubiquitous." NTT
Com wanted to reduce office costs and consolidate its metropolitan
offices to improve business efficiency by enabling its sales, SE and
staff functions to collaborate. NTT Com decided to establish a
large-scale private IP Centrex system and selected OKI's SS9100 to
connect with NTT Com's existing services.

"We are pleased to provide our SS9100 to NTT Com. OKI's solution
can offer a large-scale IP Centrex system, since the SS9100 holds up
to 20,000 ports in a single server. We believe it is a perfect
solution for a large company like NTT Com," said Masa Saito, General
Manager of IP Systems Division at OKI. "We are pleased to contribute
to NTT Com's plan to consolidate its metropolitan area offices and to
help improve their business efficiency through a non-territorial
office, offering a new communication style."

SS9100 and an application server "IP CONVERGENCE Server AS8700"
are already installed at NTT Com's data center. NTT DoCoMo's
FOMA(R)/Wireless LAN dual terminal N902iL is used for mobile devices
to act as wireless IP phones within the office and as mobile phones
when out of the office. In addition, WillCom's PHS is connected to an
IP-CS, OKI's IP compatible PHS base station, which enables users to
use the phone as a private PHS in the office, and an IP mobile phone
outside, and also to use NTT Com's mobile IP telephony service ".Phone
Ubiquitous." NTT Com included IP multi-functional phones used as
direct lines and phones in conference rooms.

In addition, NTT Com is introducing unified communication by
installing applications as a trial, such as OKI's Com@WIL(R) softphone
and Com@WILL Assistant, which allows users to make a phone call with a
single click from a web browser. For the wireless LAN, the system
adopts Aruba 6000, a mobility controller, and Aruba 65, a wireless
access point from Aruba Networks, who are known for their excellent
balance between mobility and security. With these products, the system
offers a highly secure function with a highly reliable wireless LAN
network.

OKI will continue to provide advanced IP telephony systems and
propose new unified communication for enterprise users who aim to
improve their working style and enhance productivity.

NTT Com will showcase part of this system as a working showroom to
enable enterprises to see offices first hand.
