King Soopers and City Market Stores Ask Customers To Check for Recalled Frozen
Ground Beef

DENVER, Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- King Soopers and City Market stores are
asking customers to check for the following recalled frozen ground beef
patties:
    -- Kroger Ground Beef Patties - 73% Lean / 27% Fat in 3-pound packages
with a "sell by" date of 11/06/08 and the following UPC code: 11110
97981.
-- Kroger Ground Beef Family Pack - 73% Lean / 27% Fat in 6-pound packages
with a "sell by" date of 11/06/08 and the following UPC code: 11110 97988.
    -- Kroger Ground Sirloin Beef Patties - 85% Lean / 15% Fat in 2.5-pound
packages with a "sell by" date of 11/06/08 and the following UPC code: 11110
97987.
The recall of these frozen patties stems from a recall previously
announced by Nebraska Beef due to concerns ground beef supplied by the company
may be contaminated with E.coli. Customers should return the ground beef to
stores for a full refund or a replacement.
King Soopers and City Market stores have placed signs with specific
information in their meat departments to notify customers. King Soopers and
City Market operate 142 stores in Colorado and Wyoming.
Consumers with questions about the recall should call 1-800-632-6900.
Consumers are reminded that proper handling, storage and cooking of ground
beef offer the best protection against food-borne illness. According to the
USDA, when ground beef is thoroughly cooked to an internal temperature of at
least 160 degrees, any harmful bacteria are destroyed and the ground beef is
safe to consume.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - If the men accused of plotting the September 11 attacks wonder what conditions they might face when they are moved to New York from Guantanamo Bay for trial, they can expect solitary confinement, 23-hour-a-day lockdowns, constant video surveillance and almost no visitors.
