Brasil Ecodiesel - Mandatory B2 Start Presents New Challenges to the Industry

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, May 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Brasil Ecodiesel
Industria e Comercio de Biocombustiveis e Oleos Vegetais S.A. ("Brasil
Ecodiesel" or "Company") and (Bovespa ECOD3) -- the largest biodiesel producer
in Brazil -- announces its results for the first quarter of 2008 (1Q08) and
informs its shareholders on developments within the Company and the industry.
    1Q08 HIGHLIGHTS
    -- B3 determination use as of July 1st by CNPE (National Energy Policy
       Council).
    -- Production of 70.7 m3 in 1Q08, keeping the leadership in the Brazilian
       market.
    -- Well succeeded participation in biodiesel auctions held in April.
    -- Sales of 86,968 m3 of biodiesel, a 14.8% growth against 4Q07.
    -- Conclusion of the plantation of 5,300 hectares of jatropha curcas in
       own farms.
    -- Net revenue of R$167.3 million, 24.6% higher than 4Q07.
    -- Net Loss of R$14.9 million, mainly due to the negative results of March
       due to the reduced average sales price in view of the increase in
       vegetable oil prices.
