BURBANK, CA, Nov 28 (MARKET WIRE) -- Acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter Missy Higgins will return to the U.S. with her second record, "On A Clear Night," due for release on February 12,2008. The new album will also include an MVI with exclusive behind the scenes "making of the album," videos, and bonus live concert footage.

Although the album release is still some months away, its first single,"Where I Stood," has already been featured prominently on the CW's "Smallville" recently and on the Thanksgiving edition of ABC's hit dramedy "Grey's Anatomy." Both shows have been pivotal in breaking new artists over recent years.

Missy's music is also already receiving serious support from influentialL.A. tastemaker Nic Harcourt via his "Morning Becomes Eclectic" program on KCRW. This is also helping build anticipation for the stateside release of "On A Clear Night" next February.

Currently, you can hear some of Missy's music at www.missyhiggins.com and www.myspace.com/missyhiggins, and videos for "Steer," "Where I Stood," and"Peachy" can be seen at www.youtube.com.

As a longstanding environmental activist she will also be featured on the forthcoming "Live Earth: The Concerts for a Climate in Crisis" DVD performing "Steer," which will be released on December 4, 2007.

Missy Higgins', "On A Clear Night," retains the irresistible melodies and piercing lyrics of her critically lauded debut "The Sound of White," which was Australia's best-selling album of 2005. However this time around, the tracks benefit from the production of Mitchell Froom (Elvis Costello, Crowded House)and see a more confident and self-aware outlook as befits a young woman who is finding her way in the world.

Recording for "On A Clear Night" commenced at Froom's home studio in Los Angeles and over three months, tracking proceeded with a stellar lineup of L.A musicians including in-demand studio drummer Matt Chamberlain (Tori Amos, Fiona Apple) and former touring compadre Neil Finn, who provided some extra guitars on "Peachy" and backing vocals on the rustic "Going North."

"On A Clear Night" has already been certified triple platinum in Australiaand seen Missy awarded the 2007 ARIA Award (Australia's Grammy) as the country's "Best Female Artist." It has yielded a #1 and a top 10 single with "Steer" and "Where I Stood."

In the past, Missy has toured the U.S. with the likes of Howie Day, JasonMraz and Ray Lamontagne and her live shows have been pivotal in establishing her fanbase. Missy will therefore be hitting the road around the States with a slew of tour dates coming this spring 2008 to a town near you. Stay tuned for further info!
