Americans for Balanced Energy Choices (ABEC) Urges Presidential Candidates to
Detail Positions on Clean Coal Technology
A Statement from Joe Lucas, ABEC Executive Director
DES MOINES, Iowa, Jan. 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- "Energy issues were
prominent in the Iowa caucus campaign and, similarly, are critical to the
economic future of the United States. Americans for Balanced Energy Choices
(ABEC) applauds Iowans for asking the candidates the tough questions about all
of the nation's energy sources, especially the need to invest in clean coal
technology.
Coal generates 50 percent of America's electricity and nearly 80 percent
of Iowa's electricity and is this country's most abundant and affordable fuel
source. Americans for Balanced Energy Choices encourages voters in upcoming
primary and caucus states to continue to ask the presidential candidates to
detail their positions on energy and their plans for making coal cleaner.
Because of coal's prominence in the nation's energy mix, it should be a
major focus of the national campaign dialogue. Since affordable energy and
economic growth are important to every American, the candidates should
continue to tell American working families how they view coal's role in our
nation's energy future."
ABEC is a non-profit, non-partisan citizen group that advocates for energy
policies that balance meeting America's growing demand for electricity with
the need to protect the environment. ABEC will advocate support of these
policies for continued economic growth and prosperity for America's working
families.
