BIG&BIH Ready To Take Off Next Month Despite Political Conflict

BANGKOK, Thailand, Sept. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Thailand's Ministry of
Commerce assured that the up-coming Bangkok International Gift Fair and
Bangkok International Houseware Fair 2008 (BIG&BIH 2008) is not interrupted by
the on-going political confusion and the show is now ready to take place as
scheduled.
    Held for the 26th time by the Department of Export Promotion (DEP),
Ministry of Commerce, the next edition of BIG&BIH will take place on October
14-19, 2008 at the Challenger Hall, IMPACT, Muang Thong Thani.
    "As you can see, Bangkok is still safe and favorable for business
activities, regardless of the political disturbance. Life is moving on as
usual, so does the business," said DEP's Director-General with confidence.
    Organized twice annually in April and October for over a decade, BIG&BIH
has widely recognized among international buyers as one of Asia's ideal
sourcing platforms for an extensive range of lifestyle products with unique
designs and high quality.
    Visitors to the fall edition are promised to experience a vast variety of
gifts, premiums, home decorative items, household products, home textiles,
toys and novelties, stationery, and office supplies, presented by more than
700 producers and exporters from Asia and beyond, including Thailand, Laos,
Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, and Ghana.
    Among them are internationally renowned brands i.e. HARNN&THANN, the
body-care international chain that won a patent for natural rice bran oil soap
formulation; Mae Fah Luang Foundation, the producer of handicrafts and home
textile products from Doi Tung Development Project under the Royal Initiative;
and Dhana, one of Thailand's most celebrated brand of art ceramics whose
collections won the Prime Minister's Export Award in 2006.
    BIG&BIH-October 2008 will also welcome many new exhibitors including Cool
Kreations Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based company of children's products; Mola
Design Co., Ltd., a producer of creative stationery products and Niche Work
Ltd Part, the maker of innovative gift packaging under the brand 'L-aon'.
    A number of exhibitions showcasing latest collections of lifestyle
products and distinctive creations from the country's top product designers as
well as business matching activities are also set up at the show.
    The ASEAN Handicraft Promotion and Development Association (AHPADA) will
also participate in BIG&BIH for the first time. The body will organize its
first Europe-Asia trading matching event which is a part of its Crafts Match
Project at the same venue on October 15-16.
