The City to Leverage Autonomy's Solutions for Records Management,
Business Process Management and Early Case Assessment to Strengthen
Compliance With Government Regulations and Improve Operational Efficiency
CAMBRIDGE, England and SAN FRANCISCO, September 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/
-- Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in
infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that the City of
Tacoma, Washington (the City) has selected Autonomy's comprehensive suite of
Meaning Based Computing solutions, including the company's records
management, business process management and early case assessment solutions.
These Autonomy solutions will allow the different departments within the City
to make better decisions for the benefits of its citizens, as well as achieve
cost savings and improve operational efficiency.
Autonomy's records management solution will be used to securely store and
manage the City's more than 10TB of records. After a competitive procurement
process, Autonomy's solution was selected for its advanced conceptual search
capabilities and its ability to place litigation holds on documents that are
subject to public disclosure requests and/or litigation needs. Autonomy's
awards-winning records management solution will provide tight integration
with the City's existing infrastructure and public access to records via a
Web portal. It was also chosen because it has been certified for DoD 5015.02,
"Electronic Records Management Software Applications Design Criteria
Standard", Chapters 2 and 4.
The City also plans to roll out Autonomy's Business Process Management
solution to help facilitate its document approval processes, while
streamlining its business processes. For example, the Autonomy solution will
be used to intelligently route hundreds and thousands of citizens'
applications for permits, such as building codes permits, through the City of
Tacoma's internal review processes.
In addition, the City of Tacoma will leverage Autonomy's Early Case
Assessment (ECA) solution to allow its general legal counsel to rapidly
retrieve and analyze relevant data, when there is a pending litigation. By
providing the City's general counsel with a high-level view of their entire
corpus of data, data review can be prioritized based on particular
custodians, themes or concepts, enabling the legal team to quickly ascertain
whether there is a case to answer and more importantly, how to answer it.
"The City of Tacoma's mission is to provide high-quality, innovative and
cost-effective municipal services that enhance the lives of our citizens and
the vitality of our neighborhoods and business districts through teamwork,
integrity and continuous improvement," said Rick Clark, Senior Technical
Analyst and ECM Project Manager at the City of Tacoma. "With a population of
more than 200,000 residents, huge amounts of records and paper work that
range from permit applications to Public Disclosure Requests are generated on
a daily basis. As a result, we recognized the need for effective solutions
that can help us to manage these data assets. Autonomy's records management,
business process management and early case assessment solutions were the only
solutions that met all of the City's diverse business needs. We see Autonomy
as a strategic partner of the City."
"Autonomy's Meaning Based Computing technologies are used by many
government agencies around the world to understand the meaning of their
content and identify patterns between distinct pieces of information," said
Mike Lynch, CEO of Autonomy. "Our technologies help them to better meet
regulatory compliance, while realizing cost savings and improvements in
service delivery to their citizens. We are pleased to help the City of Tacoma
to effectively manage their data."
