Zayo Group Formed to Manage New Business Units
LOUISVILLE, Colo., Nov. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Dan Caruso, CEO and co-founderof Zayo Bandwidth, today announced the formation of Zayo Group, an umbrellaoperating company that will contain Zayo Bandwidth and the two newly formedbusiness units, Onvoy Voice Services and Zayo Managed Services. After thesuccessful acquisition of four regional fiber networks and a retail VoIPprovider, the restructuring will broaden the company's overall serviceofferings and allow it to provide services to a wider array of customers.
"Through our acquisitions, Zayo has gained new and broader sets of serviceofferings that appeal to different customer verticals each with diversetelecom needs," explained Caruso. "To ensure that we continue to meet all ofour customers' needs, and to expand the types of services we can offer indifferent regions, we have separated into three businesses that will nowoperate under the name Zayo Group."
The three business units are:
Zayo Bandwidth -- offers fiber-based bandwidth services for carriers,technology companies, government, education, healthcare, financial servicecompanies and other entities with large and growing needs for bandwidth.
Onvoy Voice Services -- provides tandem switched access, long distance,SS7, directory assistance and operator services to local exchange carriers
(LEC) and other communications providers.
Zayo Managed Services -- enables private and public sector companies toavoid the expense and hassle of self-managing voice, video and data servicesby deploying and managing those services for its customers.
Zayo Bandwidth services are available to customers in Minnesota, Indiana,Memphis and throughout the Northeast. Initially, Onvoy Voice Services will beavailable to those customers in Minnesota and surrounding states, but laterwill be expanded to other regions. Zayo Managed Services will offer solutionsto customers in Minnesota, Colorado and Ohio. John Scarano, co-founder and COOof Zayo Group, will serve as president of Zayo Bandwidth. Dennis Kyle ispresident of Zayo Managed Services and Fritz Hendricks, former COO of Onvoy,is now president of Onvoy Voice Services.
Within less than four months, the company has completed five acquisitions:VoicePipe Communications, Inc., a provider of retail voice over InternetProtocol (VoIP) services; Onvoy, a 1,400-mile fiber network serving Minnesota;Indiana Fiber Works, a 2,200 fiber-route-mile network serving Indiana; PPLTelcom, a 4,600 fiber-route-mile network based in Allentown, Penn. servingareas in the Northeast; and Memphis Networx, a 200 fiber-route-mile networkserving the greater Memphis, Tenn. area. The combined company generates $125million in annual revenue.
