Small Businesses Using Yahoo! Web Hosting Services Lose Sales on "Cyber Monday"

Thu Nov 29, 2007 6:58pm EST

COLORA, MD, Nov 29 (MARKET WIRE) -- Many small and medium online businesses were devastated to find that their business web hosting service, Yahoo! , was experiencing difficulties on "Cyber Monday," costing them much needed sales on the first big day of online shopping during the holiday season this year.

Problems experienced on Yahoo! merchant sites on Cyber Monday includederror messages when trying to check out, slow page loads and millions of dollars in revenue lost for merchants. Yahoo! , who hosts three million small and medium online businesses, attributed the problems to "heavy holiday traffic."

eBizWebpages.com, which provides small business web design and eCommercewebsite development and hosting, has seen a significant rise in holiday shopper traffic every Cyber Monday since it began in 1999.

"This should have never happened to Yahoo! merchants. The first Mondayafter Thanksgiving has always been known as the biggest day for online sales during the holiday season; Yahoo! should have anticipated the heavy online traffic," said Matt Benson, eBizWebpages representative. "Fortunately, none of thecompanies using our business web hosting services encountered any difficulties with onlineholiday traffic."

"Market research shows that online shoppers will usually return to a site about three times before making a purchase during the holiday shopping season. If their first experience is that they can't access a site, they're likely to not come back," continued Benson. "We are proud to say that unlike Yahoo! merchants, none of our clients lost out on sales due to our business web hosting services on Cyber Monday this year."
