The Alliance for Sustainable Colorado (www.sustainablecolorado.org) today
announced they are accepting nominations for the Heroes of Sustainability
Award. The organization wants to recognize those in Colorado leading the
way to a sustainable future. Residents of Colorado are encouraged to
nominate people who show leadership and innovation in addressing any
aspect of sustainability -- economic, social and/or environmental. The
nomination deadline is August 15, 2008.
The Alliance for Sustainable Colorado is a non-profit organization created
to unify Colorado's sustainability movement by building collaborative
networks and communication channels, providing education, advancing public
policy initiatives, and demonstrating best practices. The organization was
founded on the belief that long-term solutions are best forged by
collaborative alliances representing all interests.
Submission Format:
-- Creativity counts!
-- Submit a short video (60 seconds or less), a poem, a watercolor
painting, photographs, narrative or anything that conveys nominee's
commitment to sustainability.
Supplemental Materials:
-- Name of nominee, organization, phone, email, address and website
(if applicable).
-- For those doing non-narrative presentations, please provide a
1-2 paragraph description of how the nominee has been an exemplary
leader and has made significant contributions to sustainability.
-- Any previous awards or recognition nominee has received.
-- Two references for the nominee with current contact information:
Name, title, organization, phone, email, and address.
Nominee Selection: A celebrity jury that consists of leaders in the field
of sustainability will review submitted nominations and make
recommendations to the Gala Committee of the Alliance for Sustainable
Colorado.
-- First round award nominees will be announced via e-mail by
September 1, 2008.
-- Final award recipients will be announced at the Alliance for
Sustainable Colorado's Second Annual Sustainability Gala on
October 16, 2008 in Denver, CO.
Awards:
-- First round award nominees will receive two tickets to the
Sustainability Gala held on October 16, 2008 and be featured in a
DVD presentation prepared for the event and distributed to media
statewide.
-- Final award recipients will receive recognition on the stage and
statewide via media, and the annual report and website of the
Alliance for Sustainable Colorado.

nomination.
