SBA Honors Emerging 200 Initiative Graduates on January 6th

The Milwaukee "Class of 2008" to Be Recognized for Its Participation in the Jobs
and Growth Stimulation Effort Targeted to Promising Inner-City Small Businesses

 WHAT:                                                                                                                                             The U.S. Small Business Administration will honor the participants in its 
                                                                                                                                                   Emerging 200 Initiative (e200) at a graduation ceremony on January 6th.  
                                                                                                                                                   In 2008, SBA`s e200 program identified 200 inner-city businesses across  
                                                                                                                                                   the nation that demonstrated a high potential for growth. It then        
                                                                                                                                                   provided these small businesses with a free, six-month course of in-depth 
                                                                                                                                                   business education focused on areas such as organization management,     
                                                                                                                                                   growth strategies and management, market development and strategic       
                                                                                                                                                   planning.                                                                
                                                                                                                                                                                                                            
                                                                                                                                                   Milwaukee was just one of the e200 participating cities. Others included 
                                                                                                                                                   Albuquerque, Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Des Moines, Memphis,   
                                                                                                                                                   New Orleans, and Philadelphia.                                           
                                                                                                                                                                                                                            
                                                                                                                                                   The 15 businesses selected from Milwaukee who completed the program and  
                                                                                                                                                   will be honored at the graduation ceremony include:

The Milwaukee e200 effort was a collaborative one. Joining SBA in bringing e200
to Wisconsin were:

* SCORE - Southeast Wisconsin (Counselors to America`s Small Business) 
* Manpower, Inc. 
* Wisconsin Women`s Business Initiative Corp. (WWBIC) 
* Greater Milwaukee Committee 
* Small Business Development Center (SBDC) through University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) 
* Milwaukee Urban League

Representatives from all e200 sponsor organizations will also be in attendance.
