SHANGHAI--(Business Wire)--
NXP Semiconductors today announced that it has been awarded three EDN China 2009
Innovation Awards, recognizing outstanding NXP products created in China over
the past year. NXP Semiconductors is dedicated to innovation and continues to
develop new technologies and products addressing the changing needs of the
market, with a local R&D team that supports and helps customers achieve greater
success.
Three NXP products were winners in this year`s EDN China Awards: the LPC1700
series microcontrollers was awarded "Best Product" for Embedded Systems and ICs,
while the PN544 chip and the BLL6H1214-500 LDMOS L-band radar power transistor
were respectively voted "Leading Product" in the "Telecommunications and
Network" and the "Analog and Composite Signals" categories. The EDN China
Innovation Awards was set up in 2005 aiming to recognize the most influential
products and technologies in the industry every year. The awards are voted by
industry engineers, experts, and readers, which makes the voting results
representative of wider public opinion.
Owen Jin, Product Marketing Director, Multimarket Semiconductors, Greater China,
NXP Semiconductors said, "The EDN China Awards serve as an industry
communication platform providing electronics engineers with the opportunity to
vote for their favorite products. We are very honored that NXP has received
three awards this year. We are very grateful for the industry support and
recognition which validate the direction we are taking on future technology R&D.
NXP developers are using their expertise on RF, analog, power management,
digital processing and manufacturing to provide solutions in High Performance
Mixed Signal (HPMS) and standard products solutions that meet the needs, lead in
the market, and win the recognition of engineers."
"The EDN Innovation Awards, which originated in Silicon Valley in the U.S., have
been successfully held in China for five years and have been well received by IC
producers at home and abroad, as well as China's domestic engineers," Zhang Wei
Ming, Publisher of EDN China said. "With 181 products from 95 companies in the
competition this year, EDN China invited over 200,000 readers and registered
users to participate in the online vote. The receipt of the Innovation Awards by
NXP Semiconductors illustrates the company's leading position in terms of
technology expertise and achievements. The awards also show recognition by
design engineers. We sincerely congratulate NXP on the achievement."
The NXP LPC1700 series microcontrollers, based on the new ARM Cortex-M3 Revision
2 core, add tightly integrated power control, including a unique Wake-up
Interrupt Controller (WIC) that allows for graceful and efficient entry into and
exit from lowest power sleep states. Verified by EEMBC as the highest
performance Cortex-M3 microcontrollers, the LPC1700 series targets a wide range
of applications, including eMetering, lighting, industrial networking, alarm
systems, white goods and motor control. Additional information is available at:

Based on the latest NFC specifications by the European Telecommunications
Standard Institute (ETSI), the NXP PN544 chip will enable mobile phone users to
access a new range of contactless applications such as mobile payments,
transport and event ticketing as well as data sharing directly from the mobile
phone SIM for improved on-the-go experience. Additional information is available

About EDN Innovation Awards
Now in its 21st year, the EDN Innovation Awards honor the products and people
that have shaped the electronics industry over the past year. It has become the
most prestigious award in the electronics design engineering category in the
North America.
In 2005, EDN China introduced the annual Innovation Awards in China,
highlighting the outstanding engineering products in the market. A combination
of votes from experts and design engineers determines the winners of the year,
who will also win an honor in China`s electronics design engineering industry.
About EDN China
As part of the EDN worldwide network, EDN China is one of the most influential
media vehicles for China`s electronics design community. Launched in 1994, EDN
China and its online portal EDNChina.com, which has dynamic Web 2.0 features,
have design technology focused editorial, extensive user generated content and
strong international resource support. EDN China has continued to win loyal
readership of more innovative-minded engineers and managers across the country.
It has a BPA audit circulation of 40,000, in addition to an ever increasing
