"We are not participating in HanseNet," United Internet CEO Ralph Dommermuth told Rheinischen Post.

The report cited sources familiar with the situation that United Internet and Vodafone (VOD.L) had previously submitted bids for HanseNet, a unit of Telecom Italia (TLIT.MI).

Spain's Telefonica (TEF.MC) said last week it was in the final stages of closing a deal to buy HansetNet, with analysts estimating a sale price of between 1 billion euros ($1.47 billion) and 1.5 billion euros ($2.21 billion). [ID:nLU298698]
