ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (Reuters) - Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano will undergo an MRI scan on his right shoulder on Friday and is expected to miss his next scheduled start on Tuesday against Baltimore.

Sports

Zambrano left Wednesday's game against Tampa Bay because of discomfort in the throwing shoulder and flew back to Chicago.

"I hope it's not serious," Cubs manager Lou Piniella told reporters. "We're not looking at Zambrano at all for Tuesday."

Zambrano is 8-3 with a 3.13 ERA in 16 starts this season.
